Trojan Asphalt is a family-run flat roofing company based in Brighton and Hove with over 50 years of experience. We specialize in mastic asphalt and built-up felt roofing systems, serving Sussex, London, and the South East of England. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality workmanship and taking pride in every project we undertake.
Our proprietor, Richard Mears, began his apprenticeship in 1964 at the age of 16, working with his uncle Angelo Damario for Chartives Asphalt. He then joined Briggs Amasco, one of the world's largest mastic asphalt companies, working on major contracts throughout Sussex and the South East, including the original Churchill Square development, Sussex University, and Portsmouth docks. In 1977, Richard started his own mastic asphalt roofing business, taking on projects like the Royal Pavilion Brighton, Brighton Station platforms, Arundel Castle, and many other significant projects. In the early 1990s, his sons, Daniel and Thomas, joined the business, fully trained in mastic asphalt and built-up flat roofing. As a close-knit family roofing company, we continue to provide a high standard of workmanship and service for every roofing contract.
2014 marked Richard's 50th year in the flat roofing industry.
